Electrolysis:
The proven method of Permanent Hair Removal
Say bye-bye to unwanted hair with electrolysis. Unlike laser, it can treat all hair colors and skin types.
Unwanted hair can become a problem that can cause embarrassment, affecting and changing your social life style.
Shaving, tweezing or waxing are only temporary and sometimes they contribute to cause irritation, ingrown hairs and rashes.
What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis was developed by a physician over one hundred years ago. Today, it remains as the only proven method of permanent hair removal. It is performed treating each individual hair follicle with a very fine needle, applying a measured amount of heat, electricity or both to the base of the follicle and destroying its functionality. Sterile needles and disposable gloves are used with each client.
How many treatments do I need?
The number of treatments varies with each person. Factors such as hair growth cycles, quantity and structure of hair, heredity, hormone function, medications, etc, can influence the treatment program.
Hair grows in different cycles: Anagen (growing cycle), Catagen (when the hair dislodges from the follicle) and Telogen (when the hair sheds). Growth activity is not visible at the same time on the skin surface because the hair grows for its usual cycle and then naturally sheds and replaces itself. Electrolysis is most successful at treating those follicles that are in the anagen stage (growing stage) since this hair is fully attached to the root of the follicle where it gets its blood supply to grow. Therefore, continuous treatments are needed to target the hairs that are turning into this growing stage. Those follicles that are successfully treated are permanently removed and with sequential sessions the area will be hair free. However, as mentioned previously, there are certain factors that influence hair growth; hormonal disorders, localized friction and medications are some of the most important factors. In order to be successful with a hair removal program, those factors need to be under control.
Is the procedure uncomfortable?
Electrolysis is a comfortable procedure. However, it is impossible to destroy hair growth tissue without having any sensation because the structure is surrounded by nerve endings. The sensation is an indication that destructive activity is occurring.
Some parts of the body are more sensitive than others and pain tolerance varies from person to person. Adjustments can be made to help with treatment discomfort.
